Magnificent orchids for sale on greenhouse tour

Here’s a friendly reminder that the Amoses will offer many orchids from their 40-year collection efforts for sale during the Nov 13 tour. If you haven’t toured their 36×96 greenhouse with accompanying shade house, you’re in for a treat. You’ll find many popular, newly introduced varieties as well as the “classics” that are the parents of many of those new varieties.

We have purchased some lovely orchids, of all genera, from them over the years. No matter what genus of orchids you like and/or are successful growing, they have it – vandas, catts, dens, phals, bulbos, and more, more, more! They’ll also have all kinds of supplies – clay pots; tree fern medium, baskets, and totems; osmunda; and again, more, more, more! So, remember to bring cash – you’ll be glad you did! 🙂

Here are some of our current bloomers, acquired from them years ago and within the past few weeks, photos taken this morning. Aren’t they gorgeous?

We’ll see you there Sat!

FOOTNOTE: The Amoses would like to thank everyone who came out to visit and purchase plants and supplies from them. They enjoyed the time spent getting to know you better and chatting all things orchid. Happy growing to those who bought plants!

November 3rd meeting speaker change – Bob Hague

Circumstances have necessitated a change in program speakers Wednesday night. Our guest speaker will be

Bob Hague of Venice Orchids. His topic will be “Variations On Growing Cattleyas” and he will bring plants for sale

Hopefully, we can reschedule Paul Storm at a future date. Feel better, Paul.

Catts in Bloom

With the coming of cooler weather and the shorter days, I’m seeing many of my cattleyeas starting to bloom. I thought I’d take a few minutes and photo just a few of my blooms and share them with you. The first is C. violacae, next is Blc Hawaii Stars ‘Pink Lace’, the next two are GOKs, followed by a cross of  C. loddigesii ‘Volcano Queen’ X Slc. Christopher Hausermann ‘EFG’ and lastly C. maxima.
